You would have had to interact w the stETH contract via a swapping interface.
U wouldn’t be able to deposit ETH and receive stETH unless specifically executed. In the case u potentially withdrew from an exchange they could have for some reason credited u stETH.
if u just sent ETH to another ETH account however – it wouldn’t somehow become stETH.
