That would literally be going backwards as far as Ledger’s history. Prior to Ledger Live coming out they used to split the Manager into a separate Chrome app. That was really terrible for user experience because users would open the wrong app and be confused. Putting all the functionality into one app makes things more streamlined.
However no one forces you to use the portfolio features in Ledger Live if you don’t want. You can just not add any accounts there and only use the Manager section to manage your device’s apps and firmware.
