Like on the phone ? No, Ledger does not call people.

By the way, It’s a self custodial wallet, you should deny ever having one.

If someone ask on the phone, on emails or in the street you don’t know what a ledger is. This can make you a target, be careful.

      Stay safe.

That will certainly be a scam.

Ledger would only ask you to update in Ledger Live itself.

      >I’ve got a supposedly valid call from ledger live today

No, that wasn’t a valid call. Ledger Live doesn’t even have “user” registration, so there is no account with your phone number attached for them to call.

First of all, Ledger Live is an app so an app didn’t call you. The company doesn’t call clients and even if they did you shouldn’t tell them you have one. Keep it a secret. They wouldn’t know which ledger device you have anyway. How would they know it needs to be updated? There is no way they can know this. When you setup the ledger live app did the app ask you for any personal info? No. So there is no way to associate any personal info to your ledger device. The only thing that could link your device to the info they have is the serial number of the device. But that would only work if you ordered your device from them. Since their devices are sold in many places I doubt they even programmed this feature in, because it would only work on some cases, not all. And even if they did programmed this in, this would be a major security issue and for a company that handles security, I think they know not to do this. I would be very surprised if they did.

This was a scam. Likely associated with a fake caller id.

As u/btchip mentioned, this is absolutely a **scam**.

**Ledger Support** (or even Ledger as a company) **will** **NEVER** **reach out directly to users** in such a manner and initiate a conversation, whether it be phone calls, direct messages, or any sort of direct communication.

If anyone ever DM’s you claiming to be Ledger Support, they are certainly a scammer.

In this case, if you ever get any phone calls from anyone claiming to be Ledger Support, they are scammers and you should absolutely ignore them.

If you ever run into a similar situation, you can always post your questions/concerns/doubts here on the sub and get objective feedback from the community, or you can reach out to us at our official Ledger Support page, [here](https://support.ledger.com/), and we’ll be happy to address any concerns you may have.
