This isn’t Ledger’s fault AT ALL. All blame falls on you and you alone, Ledger is working as intended. You’re screwed out of 19 ETH because you were careless. This is a lesson for next time, safe endeavors!

If your ETH isn’t already gone, which I am guessing it is you could try to recover using your seed with another wallet.

Would this be able to be avoided by just using the X bluetooth and not using computer?

At least report the app on Microsoft App Store so this won happen to others. Sorry for your loss.

Just to help me understand this a bit better, Microsoft allow an app to be released onto their app store that is counterfeit or masquerading to be from a legitimate company – Ledger in this case – and this app is there to capture seed passwords that in turn is used to steal any crypto or other assets that the stolen seed is the key for? If so and this became general knowledge, why would anyone trust MS if they, MS, fail to do some minor validations to verify the developers are genuine representatives of the software vendor? Truly shocking how poor to non existent quality control measures are failing its users at MS.
