You can only sign transactions with the private key for the account holding the token. So yeah, you are screwed unless you can locate it. And no one can help you. You’re on your own to find it.

What do you mean by separate private key? Do you mean that you created another ethereum account in ledger live or you have more than one ledger connected to your ledger live?

God this is confusing. If LedgerLive says you’re trying to use wrong device then you are. Plug the other one in. If you used a 25th word then you will have TWO difference batches of addresses using different keys on one ledger device.

Your posts are confusing to me, but if I understand it correctly, your issue is that one account you used for MetaMask is not working.

      2 Possible causes and solutions:

When you first create a MetaMask account, the initial default (or burner) account is created by the MetaMask web app. You are not supposed to use this account because it is not protected by Ledger; the seed was generated by an online web app (hackers can steal it).

So did you use this wallet to make swap transactions? Do you remember entering a password to make transactions? If the answer is yes, then you better have written down the 12 word seed when you created this account and thus you can restore it.

If the answer is No, then just open Ledger Live with each Ledger device and click Add Account, choose ETH. Keep adding Accounts until you see the one you are looking for.

Another way to do the step above is to use mycrypro or MEW. These web apps will scan the ledger device for all available ETH addresses.

      Good Luck!

All the private keys used by your ledger are derived from (i.e. calculated from) your 24-word recovery seed phrase, using a formula called „derivation path“.

So If the account in question was created with your ledger, you should be able to find it.

Note that sometimes accounts created with MetaMask (connected to the ledger) can only be accessed with MetaMask.

If you don’t have the keys it’s lost. There is no way to „find out“ a key
