Ich habe seit Jahren mit Leuten online und offline argumentiert, dass selbstgemachte Cold-Storage-Wallets besser und sicherer sind als Ledger (und ähnliche Hardware-Wallets).
All diese Argumente: „100% Open-Source“, „Seed kann das Gerät nicht verlassen“, „keine Verbindung zur Identität“ sind nun vom Tisch.
Das letzte Kryptounternehmen, dem die Menschen vertrauten, war Gemini – „vollständig reguliert“, „vollständig geprüft“, „auf Vertrauen aufgebaut“. Wie könnte jemand nach den jüngsten Entwicklungen ernsthaft weiterhin mehr als 100 Dollar im Ledger-Gerät halten?

Ledger is still one of the safest devices , no doubt. Prove me wrong . They did bad PR because their audience has not that much knowledge about HW . Their failure was advertising that the private key couldn’t leave your device . Now people are upset because they didn’t understand their wallet for years . Practically it still can’t leave your device ,just because something is in theory possible doesn’t mean it is actually possible .
(Not my example) are you aware of the risk that Tesla could update their cars so the brake isn’t usable anymore ? Technically possible but will it happen ? Ofc not. -

I have been thinking to do this. Offline laptop + myetherwallet. Any communication to internet will be copying json onto SD card to my online PC. And format the stick once done.
Heck, i can even format the offline PC once done if im so paranoid.
But dammit I want to stake my eth!
