Es scheint ein wenig skizzenhaft zu sein, dass man zuerst seine Seed-Phrase eingeben muss, bevor man eine Chance hat, sich mit dem Ledger zu verbinden und sicherzustellen, dass das Gerät echt ist.
Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass dies eine große Sicherheitslücke für jeden ist, der seine bestehenden Konten auf einem neuen Ledger wiederherstellt.

yes: you can enter any dummy seed phrase and check.
one of the shortest dummy seed is „all all all all all all all all all all all all“ (12-words).
or you can use the bacon seed: „bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon“ (24 words)

You could just import a dummy seed (for example „bacon“ repeated 24 times, which will pass the BIP39 checksum). Then reset after you confirm authenticity and enter your real seed.
There’s also a way to connect the device in Recovery Mode, by holding down one of the buttons while plugging it in, and this will let you access the Manager (which confirms authenticity) without configuring a seed phrase.
