Hi,
I would like to make sure that you understand the purpose of a Ledger device.
The purpose of a Ledger device is to keep your private keys offline. In case you are wondering what a private key is:
You have two keys in crypto, the first one is the public key that you share in order to receive crypto. The second one is the private key which remains secret because it allows you to prove the ownership of your crypto.
You can imagine your public keys like a letterbox and the private keys like the keys towards your letter box.
Your Private key is the only way for you to take ownership of your crypto. But this means if someone else would have access to your private keys they could have access to your crypto. Thus, the purpose of your device is to keep the private keys offline.
You can learn more about it [here](https://www.ledger.com/academy/not-your-keys-not-your-coins-why-it-matters)
The purpose of your apps is to generate private keys. You can learn more about it [here](https://www.ledger.com/academy/hardwarewallet/what-are-ledger-applications-and-why-do-i-need-them)
You need the private keys to validate each transaction. As your Ledger device keeps them offline you need your Ledger device to validate each transaction.
When receiving crypto, you need your Ledger device as well to verify if the receiving address is correct.
You still need a visual interface such as Ledger Live to see the balance of your crypto.
