Also the other way around, you would only recover the seed of a trezor into a hot wallet when the cold wallet is unavailable (stolen/lost). Then when you get a new cold wallet, you create a new wallet on it and transfer the funds to it from the recovered seed on the hot wallet.
You’d loose a bit due to fees but with the new cold wallet, you’d know for sure it wouldn’t be compromised.
If the trezor is „only“ broken, and you do not have to be able to access your funds while waiting for a replacement hardware wallet to be delivered, you can just restore the seed unto the new one. No need then to have to send funds to a new wallet and loosing a bit due to fees…
