Ich bin in einer Situation, in der ich zu Ledger HQ zurückkehren und ein neues Gerät erhalten muss. Würden Sie dem Löschvorgang vertrauen und die gleiche Seed-Phrase für das neue Gerät verwenden? Oder gibt es ein geringes Risiko, dass jemand, der bei Ledger arbeitet, den alten Seed wiederherstellt, der mit dem zurückgegebenen nano X verbunden ist? if you don’t trust the wiping process, you could enter a dummy phrase in your ledger, so you’ll be sure the original phrase will be overwritten.

for example, you can enter the 12-word dummy „all“ phrase“

„all all all all all all all all all all all all“

or the 24-word dummy bacon phrase:

very high security, given the high quality of the ledger hardware random number generator.

And if you don’t fully trust the ledger random generator, you can strengthen your seed by adding an optional BIP39 passphrase (an arbitrary user-defined string, preferably not a dictionary word).

As far as I know the recovery phrase isn’t stored on the Ledger but the private keys of course are. You cannot be 100% sure that a factory reset removes all keys and apps from the device (not everything is open source), but given the fact that Ledger makes money manufacturing and selling secure devices it would be stupid if a reset didn’t wipe the device completely.

But if you want to be 100% sure, let the new device generate a new phrase or generate one yourself.

Ledger uses a certified RNG on their devices, making the generated phrase truly random.

Once your device is reset your recovery phrase is gone from the device. The architecture of our device is such that even our core developers and builders cannot predict or retroactively determine recovery phrase generated or stored on devices.
