I bought my Trezor within a week of starting my crypto journey. Read too many horror stories of people getting fucked over to not take it seriously.

I think it makes sense to buy a Trezor once you have at least ~$60 worth of bitcoin. It doesn’t make sense to spend $1000 to protect $1000. Because if you buy the ‘safe’ OR your money gets stolen, you’re out $1000 either way. Once the value of what you’re protecting exceeds the value of the security measures, then the measures may make sense.

Trezors coin support is pretty brutal. Communication isn’t great either.

I disagree partially, It makes no sense buying a € 60,00 Trezor One or even a € 120,00 Trezor T to store € 100,00 of crypto. However, if you own millions of a particulair coin it depends as the coin might not be worth much now but can be worth thousands in the future.

How would owning a Trezor have helped the people in the article? Eventually the bitcoin needs to be turned to fiat and deposited into a bank account. Can’t the DOJ just continue to follow the money until it is deposited into a bank account? I don’t see how storing the bitcoin on a Trezor before eventually converting the bitcoin to cash would have helped the couple dodge detection. Not being argumentative I just don’t understand
