From what i heard, ADA cannot be recovered by entering the BIP39 ledger seed phrase (24 word) in a software cardano wallet app, because the cardano wallet apps are either not BIP39-compatible, or they use a different derivation path.

So the only way to recover would be to enter the ledger recovery/seed phrase in the ledger, and access the cardano account either with ledger live (by adding the account), or by connecting a cardano wallet app to your ledger. Did you try Daedalus and Adalight?

You might want to get help on the cardano reddit forum, or to enter a question / request for help here:

Note also that a laptop issue is really not a problem, and does not require you to do anything other that re-install Ledger Live (or any other front-end you use) , connect your ledger and add your existing accounts to recover access.

In no way you should enter your seed in a software wallet if you have a ledger device that still works, and if you did that, all your assets under that seed are now at risk, so they should be moved to accounts derived from another seed, and you should never use your old seed again.

Hey there, since Cardano is not yet supported in Ledger Live (which is an interface)
You can install the ADA app from your manager’s tab, then connect your Ledger device to Adalite https://support.ledger.com/hc/articles/4405490468881-Set-up-and-use-AdaLite-to-access-your-Ledger-Cardano-ADA-account?docs=true

Then you will be able to see your ADA, if you do not see them, then they are not held by the 24 words recovery phrase that you are currently using!

      I hope this helps!

If you type a Ledger-created seed phrase into a Cardano software wallet like Daedalus/Yoroi/Adalite/Nami/etc. you won’t get the same addresses that you would when connecting the Ledger hardware with the same seed phrase in it, because Ledger didn’t follow the official Cardano spec for how the seed phrase gets converted into a Cardano private key. (It has nothing to do with derivation paths or any other settings under your control.)

However, restoring the seed phrase on a Ledger and then connecting the Ledger hardware to Daedalus or Yoroi should work and show the same addresses. If not, you aren’t using the same seed phrase and/or passphrase that was originally used when creating the Cardano wallet with the connected Ledger.
