Ich kaufte ein Ledger in der Hoffnung, dass ich alle meine Münzen in der Hardware-Wallet zu konsolidieren, so dass, wenn etwas passiert, um mich, können sie schnell zugreifen. Zu meiner Überraschung erfordert jeder neue Computer oder jedes neue Gerät, das eine neue Installation der Ledger-Live-App hat, dass der Benutzer jedes Münzkonto hinzufügt, weil die App mit einer leeren Tafel beginnt. Ich hätte angenommen, dass durch das Einstecken des Ledgers und die Synchronisierung mit Ledger Live die Münzen, die ich besitze, angezeigt werden.

Meine Frage ist also, kann die Trezor-App alle Münzen leicht sichtbar/zugänglich für meinen nächsten Angehörigen machen, wenn ich nicht da bin, um ihn/sie zu führen? Oder ist es dasselbe wie bei Ledger und ich muss alle Münzen auf einem Blatt Papier auflisten?

You still have to „activate“ coins in Trezor suite for it to find coins of that kind you own, but the process is much easier and faster than with ledger. Your instructions can be to „enable all coins and plug in the wallet“ and the suite will mostly take care of the rest.

Another complication with both ledger and trezor is that there are coins the hardware wallets support that their dedicated software (ledger live/trezor suite) don’t directly support, so those will, at least for now, require some instructions for which other wallet software to use to access those coins. Not sure if you have any of those.

Your seed is the thing guaranteed to not fall out of date here. The software and even hardware wallets used to access that seed may change over time. I’d recommend storing that and the names of coins your next of kin should look at together, just to be safe.

the coins are not literally _on_ the HW wallets, and typically the hardware unit doesn’t even know which coins you put on it. this is true for both Ledger and Trezor

just write down which coins you have and how to get to settings

Am I missing something here? The only thing they should need is literally ANY Trezor and your seed words. And they don’t even need the Trezor really. Just the seed words (and passphrase if used).

Unless you’re going to make use it’s literally probably better to just create a paper wallet or something because in let’s say ten years that Trezor could randomly die and they’ll need to access it like a paper wallet anyways

I thought this is what Shamir backups was made for, but I reckon you would need to also leave instructions on how to utilise them too, if I’m not mistaken.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

[This](https://blog.trezor.io/seed-pin-passphrase-e15d14a0b546) might give you what you want. You can give your family access to you Recovery Seed. Think of that seed is like a magic wand; they can touch any wallet with it and voilà: they have your coins.

Even though the coins are safe, you still have to „turn on“ the coins in Suite so that they will show up.

Thank you everyone for your input. Seems like both trezor and ledger works pretty much the same way, I guess there is no point I switch.
