      Hallo Leute,

Does your friend have any addresses you can look up in a blockchain explorer? So you can view if funds are or not there?

You didn’t tell what coins does your friend have, bitcoin, eth, tokens, etc. That can narrow you options.

For example for bitcoin you friend may manually add taproot/legacy accounts since are off by default on trezor suite. This depends on the coin type he/she had.

Since you recover your seed on the trezor and it went ok, there is no need to test the seed again, but if you want to double check you can run a dryrun test (read https://blog.trezor.io/test-your-seed-backup-dry-run-recovery-df9f2e9889)

And, finally, if your friends does not remember the hidden account password, then no funds. That’s how it works.

      A quick additional question.

I recovered the seed again and tried to check the balance on the xpub public keys but they dont show any transactions is this normal because we factory resetted the trezor?
Or should they be there even if we resetted it ?

If you aren’t seeing any transactions or funds at all then it’s an issue with the seed or passphrase. (Passphrase is what is used if you have been using a hidden wallet)

You need to be sure you have the right seed… The passphrase is easy to mess up, so you can try a bunch of things by hand or use BTCRecover to help test a bunch of seeds very quickly. (https://btcrecover.readthedocs.io/)

First you need to understand how Trezor works.
-with the seed (12 or 24 words) you can access the “normal account”
-on the trezor suite you can add accounts by entering a passphrase.
ANY passphrase will get you to different account.
-If you enter the same passphrase that your friend used, then you will the hidden account with his coins. If the balance shows 0, then check the history and see if there was any transactions before to confirm that you are on right account.
There is no brute force, cheat the trezor device etc…just math
If you say that the funds are gone, then you must see the transaction out

When setting up a hardware wallet you really should know the following. If you don’t then you can certainly land in the type of quicksand you are in now.

      1. Your BIP39 seed mnemonic
      2. Your BIP39 passphrase, if enabled
      3. Your PIN
      4. Your software wallet password if Electrum, Metamask or others were used
      5. Coins or tokens held in the wallet (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc…)
      6. The script type used (legacy, segwit, taproot, multisig)
      7. The public address of BIP32 (xpub/ypub/zpub) of funded coins

The fewer of these 7 things you process, the “thinner the ice” you walk on is. You may not need them all, but always best, to know the most, not the least. Sounds like your friend forgot 6 out of the 7. Not good.
