I believe I can deduce the answer to my Q1 from the knowledge base: https://www.ellipal.com/blogs/support/address-different-after-recovered

I’m interpreting that as meaning the address for each coin is based on the combination of the private key and some ID (or just the name?) of each coin in some standardised order.

But I set a pass phrase of my own after I entered the seed phrase in to the Exodus app and still got the history. I haven’t checked if the address seems to be the same as in the video. Not sure the resolution was high enough to see such detail.

If your cold wallet is lost or ELLIPAL disappear, please don’t worry. Keeping your mnemonic safe is the most important thing, no one can steal your assets without your mnemonic. You can recover your account in the new cold wallet (or another brand of cold wallet) with mnemonics.

All of your cryptocurrency is actually stored on the collective Blockchain network. The hardware wallet stores the recovery mnemonics that you backup offline, on paper or much better yet on an ELLIPAL mnemonics metal.

If you no longer have access to your hardware wallet, you can recover your coins with mnemonics and passphrase on any other wallets that are based on the BIP-39 Protocol and you will regain access to all of your accounts, balances and transaction data.
