When Solo staking opens and available on Ledger Live, I’ll definitely consider staking and becoming a validator.
That way I will help others who which to deligate little amount to my would-be validator pool.
I don’t mind committing 32 ETH though I need to behave properly and never misbehave as a validator to avoid slashing of the 32 Staked ETH 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️.
ETH has completed the Merge. Now it needs to complete 4 more upgrades/updates (Surge, Verge, Purge & Splurge)
Withdrawing staked ETH or rewards from a validator balance is not yet supported. Support for withdrawals are planned for the upcoming Shanghai upgrade. You should anticipate your ETH being locked for at least one-to-two years. After the Shanghai upgrade you will be able to freely withdraw portions or all of your stake if you wish.
The Surge refers to the addition of Ethereum sharding, a scaling solution which the Ethereum Foundation claims will further enable cheap layer-2 blockchains, lower the cost of rollups or bundled transactions, and make it easier for users to operate nodes that secure the Ethereum network.
The Verge will implement “Verkle trees” (a type of mathematical proof) and “stateless clients.” These technical upgrades will allow users to become network validators without having to store extensive amounts of data on their machines.
The Purge will cut down the amount of space required to store ETH on a hard drive, trying to simplify the Ethereum protocol and not requiring nodes to store history.
And a Splurge? … it’s “all of the other fun stuff.”
