The recovery phrase is the one and only key to all of your accounts and funds. However, if someone somehow knew your PIN code and got ahold of the Ledger device, they could sign transactions with your funds after installing Ledger Live on their own computer.

It’s not a great idea, but it’s certainly worse to keep your recovery phrase on your person.

With an 8 digit PIN you’re pretty safe even in case of theft, unless it’s your birthday or something. You can just enter your 24/25 words again on a new Ledger and transfer all funds to a new account (which you’d create before that), just to make sure. Also after three false attempts the device will delete its data so the thief can’t just patiently try the 100,000,000 combinations.

Don’t need to be paranoid, if someone steals your Ledger they can’t do anything with it without the pincode. I have mine lying around everywhere. Keep your mnemonic phrase safe and you’ll be fine.

You understand that your cryptos are not stored in your ledger device, right?

There is no point in keeping the ledger device with you, really. That only shows that you don’t understand how the device works.

But you should set-up a good PIN (8-digit, random looking) and do not write the PIN code on or near the device.

If someone steals your ledger, or if you lose it or break it, just get another one. You have more chances to lose it or break if you carry it with you, rather that tucking it in a drawer at home.

not a good idea to attach your ledger with your keychain… this will be like advertising to bad actor for a wrench attack.

Hello, The only two ways that someone could gain access of your crypto assets entirely are either by gaining physical access to your device with the PIN code you set or by getting access to the recovery phrase you generate and write-down upon setting up your device. As long as you protect these your assets are safe and secured.
