Was empfehlen Sie, und was haben Sie getan?

No part of testing your seed involves entering it on your computer, only on the device itself.

You can either use Ledger’s Recovery Check app (which runs solely on the device): https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007223753-Recovery-Check

Or completely reset the device and restore your seed again and make sure the same accounts are accessible after you restore.

      > recently it was recommended that I try it at least once to make sure it works.

yes, you can verify your seed phrase if you want to, it but ONLY by entering it ON A LEDGER (or on another hardware wallet, e.g. a Trezor) !!! never type your seed phrase on a computer or phone!

Or just use the „recovery check app“ on the ledger device.

I’m not sure who recommended that but typing your seed in any digital device other than the ledger completely negates the security provided by the ledger

I’ve personally set up the ledger (new seed phrase only for use with that ledger), sent cents of ETH to the device then reset and tested the seed recovers the same account before using it

There is a app called “recovery check”. Install it. It will ask you to enter your phrase then it verifies it.

ONLY enter the phrase directly on the ledger itself. Never anywhere else. You can uninstall it afterwards to save space.

For extra security do not say the phrase aloud nor have any cameras of any kind facing the ledger when you enter the phrase.

How I did it back in the day way to create a seed phrase, add a little amount to it and reset the whole Ledger to verify I indeed restored the correct wallet.

You can also get a spare Ledger and use that one to restore using your excisting phrase to see if it does restore the said wallet

The only independent secured research I carried out was that I bought a second Ledger, 1 Trezor and 1 D’cent hardware wallets and entered my seed phrase directly on them and saw that it’s recoverable.

I kept my second ledger as the official backup in a hidden safe.

I wiped the D’cent hardware wallet and gave it freely to my partner to generate a brand new seed phrase for himself.

As for the Trezor Model T hardware wallet, I wiped it clean and left it in my safe and it doesn’t have any seed phrase in it. I’ll decide later what I’m gonna do with it 🤷🤷🤷.

Store in a text file, encrypt it and store it in a paid password manager like KeyPass,1Password. Not on any Google drive shit. This is the best you could do.

PS: ONLY for advanced users who know what they’re doing.
