In meinem Fall verwende ich Onesafe+, um alle meine Passwörter zu speichern… Ich habe mich gefragt, ob ich dort auch die vollständigen 24 Wörter der Seed Phrase speichern sollte oder vielleicht nur einige der Wörter (z.B. Wort 1 und 24 auf dem iPhone und alle Wörter in der Mitte in einem Safe bei mir zu Hause). Was meint ihr dazu?

Hard no on this. You defeat the purpose of the ledger device by doing that. Never type, copy or paste your seed phrase to or from a computer or any mobile device. Ledger generates the seed phrase and you transpose it onto ideally a steel seed plate.

yes it is risky. never hold the seed phrase on any digital medium.

It is risky because any person hacking the account would be able to steal all your funds.

Is it less risky than writing it down on a piece of paper and losing that piece? yes! Is is more risky than having that piece of paper replaced with two stainless steel plates held in two separate safes? Yes!

Please do your research. I’ve seen numerous people losing their funds and coming back here saying „I never did anything wrong, just stored a photo of my seed in Google Photos“.

Some crypto people won’t be satisfied unless you stamp your seed phrase on metal, put it in a fireproof safe, and bury it in the woods. Imo there’s nothing wrong with using a password manager, if you’re entering the seed phrase on a clean device in airplane mode. If anyone has a problem with that, then they really have a problem with AES-256, and that seems fairly ridiculous. This is the best tradeoff between security and convenience I’ve found. Though it might be better to keep your seed phrase separate from your normal passwords, using separate login credentials.

In this case I’d have to shill Bitwarden Premium, because that’s what I use. It’s $10 a year, it’s open source, you can add Google Authenticator, and most importantly add Emergency Contacts (i.e. other Bitwarden Premium users, like a trusted family member) so they can easily request access to and recover your vault, should you die, or something. Very convenient, very safe, although others clearly disagree.

I store mine on three sets of engraved steel dog tags with a Shamir code. Any one lost or stolen and you can recreate the full set from the remaining two but cannot be compromised by the list set.

Keep each set in a unique secure place.

Very risky but if you are doing it make sure you are using a passphrase and it is not stored with the seed.

Thank you for your response. I understand most of you believe it’s risky (or very risky). But, if I keep only 1 seed of 24 in iphone and the rest in a safe at home, what possibly could go wrong? If a hacker enter in my iphone, he will find only 1 seed…from the other side, if robbers open the safe, they’ll find only 23 seeds (but they miss one). If they are sophisticated enough to understand what that those random words means, they’ll miss one of them and in the meantime I probably will know of the intrusion and transfer the coins.

And by the way, all this pain for a few hundreds bucks of coins…I guess it would be more a damage for me if I loose my iphone 🙂

Last thing: there is a queue in my reddit chat of „official“ supporters from ledger who want to help me 🙂 …How efficient this company is ??? :-))))

It’s risky to save the recovery phrase on anything electronic.

Any where other than a physical piece of paper or steel plate. Is risky

Yes this is risky. You’re putting your funds at risk. Never store your 24 word recovery phrase in any sort of digital medium. Always just write it down on paper or metal – this is how you can secure your funds.

It exposes you to a different set of risks than storing on paper or steel. The risk of any kind of digital storage is greater than that of storage in a physical medium.
