Administrator::Hallo!

Gast::Generally speaking there are 2 possibilities for what’s happening with devices that display this error.
1. There’s no physical connection between the battery pack and the main circuit board inside the device.
This can occur via dropping the device, ingress of dust/debris, or corrosion of the metal pads.
There was also a design improvement made quite some time ago to the way the battery contacts the main circuit board. As far as I’m aware, the factory no longer holds any stock of the previous design, so if you ordered from [ledger.com](https://ledger.com) in the last at least 6 months, you’ll have gotten the new design. It’s possible other vendors (Amazon for instance) might still have the old design boards in their warehouse. Though at this point, even that’s not likely. Third party back-stock is something that I imagine is difficult for Ledger to control. If you want to void your warranty to check whether you have the new design, you can open up the device and look to see if the circuit board is the green [revision 4](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404382029329-Check-hardware-integrity?support=true) board. You’ll see the battery has pogo pins now instead of bent metal connectors.
If you want to see the difference without tearing your device apart, this video shows it quite nicely
[https://youtu.be/v9QNULKVz_0?t=174](https://youtu.be/v9QNULKVz_0?t=174)
This video implies the redesign coincided with the device re-branding, so new [ L ] logo generally means new revision. I can’t say for sure that this is guaranteed, since the newly branded swivel could very well have been placed on revision 3 boards at some point in time. It’s a decent rule of thumb though. They did occur at around the same time.
2. The battery is overdischarged
This is not a Ledger-specific problem, but rather a limitation of all Lithium batteries. When Lithium batteries get very dead, they become very difficult (and eventually impossible) to charge back up. All modern electronic devices contain battery management systems that work to ensure the batteries maintain some level of charge, even when it says „0% battery remaining.“
If you store a Nano X long enough, especially if you put it away when already at low battery, some amount of self-discharge will naturally occur. Eventually the device will enter this state. This is why it’s [recommended](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019293913-Maximize-battery-life?docs=true) you plug in your Nano X at least once every few months to keep it in a good voltage range.
**The good news is that this is often fixable by just charging the device back up.**
Even though you get this error, it doesn’t mean the battery is necessarily dead forever. The device will continue to try to charge while plugged in, and often it just takes an overnight charge to bring it back into its functional voltage range.
**Everyone encountering this error in 2022 onward, try charging your device overnight before going for a warranty replacement.**

Also it’s worth mentioning that the device is 100% functional with this error present, and can do everything it’s designed to do without any issue. You’ll just need to keep it plugged into a power source to keep it alive. If the trickle-charging doesn’t fix your issue, don’t be afraid to continue to use a device with this error while you wait for a warranty replacement. Gast::I bought mine in November, I only used it on battery once, the other times it was plugged into my computer, so no chance of a fully drained battery. I also tried charging over night, didn’t work. Yes I can still use it plugged in but I keep getting the annoying message “battery cannot charge”, then if problem persists contact Ledger.

Gast::Here with same issue…embarassing how many people are experiencing same problem.
My firmware is ofc updated and my Nano X were working correctly till last time I used it few days ago.So what to do? Found a guide on Ledger official site suggesting to make a „wall charger for at least 8 hours to try to resume charging“. Someone tried? Did it work?
