      Hallo,

      Lost passphrase = lost funds.

The ONLY way to fix this is to guess the passphrase exactly correctly. Without the passphrase, there is NOTHING that can be done.

Recovering with the seed won’t help. Creating a new wallet won’t help. Buying another Trezor won’t help.

Just keep trying various combinations of what you think the passphrase might be. Upper case, lower case, etc. That really is your only hope here.

Shit. Well, thanks for the responses. I’ll check out the links and put my energy into brute force rather than recovery tactics. Super glad I only transferred a little to start!

You can’t access your existing funds without the correct passphrase. Creating a new wallet or recovering without the correct passphrase will give you a new, empty wallet.

As long as you have some idea of what it was or how it was formatted, you can brute force it using free open source software, or pay a recovery service to do this for you.

      https://github.com/fixmycrypto/FixMyCrypto

(see Passphrase section for the various brute forcing options)

However if you have no idea what it was, you’re out of luck.

You can’t recover your passphrase protected wallet on a new device.

The only way is to insert the right passphrase. You have to brute force the passphrase.

Without passphrase that will not work; think of the passphrase as the last word of seed. You should try to remember that writing down what you remember and trying different combinations in an app like https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

Hi, have you lost your recovery seed (12 or 24 words), or a passphrase (that can be any word or set of characters of your choice)?

This is very important, because a lost passphrase is the worst scenario – no one can help you recover it, it is not stored anywhere and only you can remember what your passphrase is.

On the other hand, lost seed may not mean that you are losing access to your funds. If you can still access your wallet with Trezor, you can move your funds elsewhere, wipe Trezor, create a new wallet (seed) and transfer the funds to it.

Good luck getting that passphrase back. Do your best to remember. If you can’t, consider using one word for your passphrase next time. That or a sentence you’d never forget.

I don’t understand what these people are thinking sometimes.
I guess for the market to recover/refreesh/reset, all these people have to lose their seeds and passphrases and pins, including devices, etc.

      Going forward,

      Do what I do:

I use all my prior girlfriend names + their bra size

As long as you keep a personalized picture, it’s easy to remember I do not have to write anything down.
