Ich habe mehrere Beiträge darüber gelesen, dass 2.2.1 den ganzen Zweck einer „kalten Wallet“ verletzt und zerstört.

Ich bin mit der Ledger-Szene seit fast einem Jahr veraltet. Jetzt habe ich beschlossen (wie eine jährliche Einzahlung auf meine Ledger), um mehr Krypto für langfristige Investitionen zu hinterlegen und es veranlasste mich, 2.2.3 zu aktualisieren? Eine ausführliche Erklärung, wie das funktioniert, wäre großartig. Herzlichen Dank!

Ist es jetzt sicher? Ist es wieder so, wie Ledger damals ursprünglich war? Oder sind wir am Arsch.

I still don’t trust them If a government forces ledger to give our seeds whiteout our permission they will, it’s called law enforcement stop using this device asap

It’s mostly fear mongering and people upset at Ledger that they force an update on us with a feature that nobody asked for. The recovery feature is opt-in, just don’t use it and carry on. There’s no proof that someone could remotely activate it and hack it in a way that it sends them your seed. All the discussion was for theoretical risks and attack vectors. That doesn’t say anything about how likely or unlikely those risks are.

Hey – yes it’s completely safe (and even recommended) to update your firmware. To clarify, Ledger Recover is an optional subscription service. It’s useful if you don’t want to just rely on your Recovery Phrase as a backup but it’s completely optional and you can decide to ignore it and use your Ledger as usual, we’ll never force you to use the service and we cannot activate it on your behalf.
