      Hallo zusammen

      Vielen Dank!

Haven’t touched my seed phrase for past 2 years. None of the firmware updates has ever prompted me to enter my seed phrase.

You don’t need your seedphrase to update your firmware.

You do not ever have to type your seed phrase into a computer, no matter what. So, your seed phrase cannot be stolen from typing, if you don’t type it into a computer. Put your seed phrase directly into the Trezor T keyboard or with Advanced Recovery on One.

Suite update are apart from trezor devices update. Suite update won’t ask for a seed and device asking for a seed after an update are so rare lately; and if it does ask, as long as you recover the seed using the device itself (not typing on screen) you’re good to go.

      > With ppl continuously getting their coins stolen

[This procedure](https://www.reddit.com/r/TREZOR/comments/rcazcg/how_to_upgrade_trezor_and_perform_taproot_txns_on/) performs all the GPG checks making it very difficult to get scammed. But it is more work than people are willing to perform. But you did ask.

      > without having to enter the seed-phrase?

Check your current firmware first and do a [dry-run advanced recovery](https://wiki.trezor.io/User_manual:Dry-run_recovery) before you begin. Only users on FW 1.6.1 will need to re-enter your seed. Either that, or you got a flakey USB cable. Don’t use flakey cables.

Advanced recovery takes seed entry via device, not computer. No risk with on-device actions.

Could it be that you are requested to enter a simulated seed phrase restore to check if your seed matches? There is a simulation for that on trezor suite. But you add that on the Trezor device, not your computer.

I haven’t updated but I can’t remember when I first downloaded suite if I had to enter it on my computer or through my device? What did you have to do?

Don’t you have to type in your seed phrases on the pc if you have trezor one?

I updated and lost my crypto. Am I suppose to wipe out the trezor and enter my 24 words again? I am waiting for trezor customer support to get back to me but because they said that sometimes firmware update wipes out your balance and you have to start again. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m just worried to Wipe out my trezor.

Hi! In majority of cases you don’t need to use your seed after the update. You have to use the seed only when the device is wiped during the update (eg due to connection failure). Then you have to use your seed for recovering your wallet.

However, the update itself does not put your funds at risk. Users lose way to their funds when their devices are wiped and they do not have a correct seed written down, or they are typing in a wrong passphrase.

If you have Trezor Model T, you are entering the seed on Trezor directly. With Trezor Model One you can choose the Advanced recovery option in which the entered seed words are hidden: https://wiki.trezor.io/User_manual:Advanced_Recovery
