Gast::No offense man, but I’ve used Ledger since 2020, and I’ve never had one single issue with lost funds. There was a bug where my btc balance displayed more than I actually had, but never funds just disappearing. And it disappearing almost instantly really seems like there some sort of compromise on your end. Ledger doesnt have access to your funds, seed phrase, or anything of the like. I think there’s some sort of vulnerability on your end somewhere man, hate to tell you.

Gast::If this happened almost instantly after you received an asset it might mean that there was a transaction you signed previously but couldn’t be executed because you had not enough assets that was still held by the network with a valid sequence number for this address. You can check if you remember signing a transaction sending assets to this address that failed at some point in the past.

Gast::Ledger cannot control the routing of any funds they’re just a hardware wallet company lol. I’m not sure this 100k random address thing has any validity to it? It sounds like you may have exposed your recovery phrase at some point. This is how someone would have been able to remove funds without your Ledger device in their possession.

Gast::If you did not leak/share/saved digitally the seed phrase, never interacted with DApps and your ledger is certified authentic, then it has to be your seed phrase generated was not random i.e pre-determined. I can’t think of any other possibility.
From the Ledger FAQ, seed phrase is generated using the RNG from the closed-sourced secure element chip. Since it is closed-source code we cannot audit the logic behind the programming of the RNG.

Gast::Perhaps you have found a bug with ledger and someone has either –
1. Hacked your keys by guessing them
2. Hacked your keys by social engineering
3. Hacked the ledger wallet
4. Hacked your keys by you interacting with a malicious contract
5. Unknown to human kind (at the time) vector of attackOccums razor….the simplest reason is usually the right reason…..

Gast::I know theoretically, this shouldn’t happen to a hardware wallet and the blame always goes to the user ’sharing their phrase‘. But I’m hearing more and more stories about this with Ledger – and two points make a line. I’m staying the hell away from Ledger until they seriously start investigating. Too many people are starting to say the same thing.
Sorry about what happened to you – and I wish you the best of luck. I appreciate you posting b/c it’s another case of coins mysteriously disappearing from a Ledger (supposedly the safest wallet available). -

Gast::The Ledger subreddit is continuously targeted by scammers. Ledger Support will never send you private messages. Never share your 24-word recovery phrase with anyone, never enter it on any website or software, even if it looks like it’s from Ledger. Only keep the recovery phrase as a physical paper or metal backup, never create a digital copy in text or photo form. Gast::Yeah if or when you figure out what happened, myself and I’m sure others here would like to know what happened. And if you ever get an email from Ledger about anything, always check the URL it’s sent from. I’ve had my Ledger for almost 3 years amd the only emails I’ve gotten from them was the confirmation email when I originally ordered it.

Gast::Makes me wonder if your hardware wallet was somehow compromised. I remember the advice of one Ledger user, to reset your hardware wallet twice upon initial setup, even if it came from a verified source and was still wrapped in plastic, just to be sure that the setup was not somehow compromised.

Gast::Have you bought your ledger from the official website?
Somehow it sounds like you are compromised. But you can check your past transactions and then you can find to who it was sent. If you recognize the address it was an old open pending transaction, if you don’t, well shyt, it isn’t safu to keep other funds on there as well.
What is weird is that the full amount isn’t stolen

Gast::What piss me off is that these folks don’t take time to research previous posts & responses – and they keep posting similar topics almost everyday/weekly.
If they spend time going through old post they’ll discover where they made errors that led to compromise of their funds or in this case a pre-authorised future spending of your funds via interaction with smart contracts and pre-authorising them with your Ledger private keys 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️.

Gast::thanks to those who pointed out the issue , turns out this was simply previously signed transaction from an exchange i made to bitcoin and changelly has taken care of the missing funds.
and as negative as the response was to this issue , i probably wouldnt have solved the problem nearly as fast without posting here.
