A wrong passphrase will be accepted, it will just lead to a new empty wallet.

This is not from hacking. A hacked wallet would still show the transaction history.
Really, it sounds like you are using a different passphrase than you did originally. An empty wallet is a symptom of using the wrong passphrase. One way to know for sure: look back at the history where you send the BTC from (the exchange or wherever you sent it from). Look at the address you sent it to. Go into Suite and see if you still have that same address. If not, then you are in the wrong passphrase wallet.
