The confirmation on the device is used to check if the address on the screen and the address on the Ledger’s screen are the same.

There’s a theoretical chance that the Ledger Live you’re using has been compromised and shows a different address.

It’s not required to confirm the address on the device, but it’s recommended. That’s what this message tells you basically.

It only does it when i try to do a transaction without my device plugged in even if i verify my address. Coinbase and other sites as well. Maybe a safety precaution. Does it on my PC as well.

The warning is there simply to notify users that without verification on the device, it is impossible to be 100% certain that the address displayed is correct. If Ledger Live mobile were compromised in some way, scammers could spoof their address where yours should be and without device confirmation you’d have no way of knowing. Beyond that, you’re safe to proceed.

It just means that its safer to confirm the address by using your ledger device. Thats literally all it means. You can choose not to use the device but doing so just opens you up to possibility that someone figured out how to display the wrong address on your iphone app and siphon away whatever funds you’re meant to be receiving. How someone could manage to do that is beyond my scope of knowledge though.

Even though it’s saying it can’t confirm it, do you see exactly the same address both in ledger live app and on your device screen? The exact same address and it says it can’t be confirmed? If so it may be a bug…

The address displayed on your device is the one that only matters!…
