Ich kann eine neue Hardware-Wallet kaufen, aber es wird einige Zeit dauern, bis sie ankommt. Wenn ich also schnell auf mein Geld zugreifen muss, kann ich dann diese Strategie anwenden? Also, wenn die neue Hardware-Wallet kommt, kann ich einfach meine Gelder von metamask zu Ledger wieder, das neue Gerät wird einen neuen Recovery-Schlüssel haben.

Just buy a second ledger. I wouldn’t want to ever enter the keys into a PC. If you are paranoid, buy it in advance.

Ps: my local best buy stocks ledgers.

Hey, you can surely export your accounts to any software wallet that BIP39 compatible while you wait for your new device. You can find the list of supported wallets here

Yes, but if you do import into metamask, you must generate a new seed when new ledger arrive. do not import the same seed into ledger

Import cold wallet seed into metamask will make this wallet a „hot wallet“ and potentially compromised the wallet.

Have a backup hardware wallet ready to go? They aren’t expensive.

      Your plan would work.
The original seed will become hot, but you said you’d generate a new one and send the funds over.

Logistically, this is possible and would indeed work the way you intend.

From a security standpoint, this jeopardizes your funds if your computer was infected with malware.

It’s advised that you **never** type your seed phrase into a computer unless both of the following are true:

      * Assume that typing your seed phrase into your computer means that there’s a 99% chance of loss of funds. Therefore, only type your seed phrase into a computer if a 99% chance of loss is actually better than the alternative.

      * Assume that any time you type your seed phrase into a computer, it becomes a race between you and the hacker to see who can drain the funds in that account to their secure wallet faster. Only type your seed phrase into your computer when you’re prepared to engage in this race.

You can but it would put all your funds at risk so i would not recommend it.

It would be safer to buy a ledger locally, even a used one, e.g. at BestBuy (in the US) or via CraigsList or eBay. You will get it by tomorrow.

Using a second-hand ledger is 100% safe if you reset it and check that it is genuine. It is much safer to do that than to enter your seed in a software wallet.

Yes but you should absolutely not do this unless the consequences for not doing it are extreme like homelessness. The ledger 24 words were not meant to be typed on a computer keyboard, this is a big security breach and your funds could disappear instantly.
