A passphrase is useful for any wallet, not just a trezor, as the extraction of the seed from a ledger has shown.

It adds a very simple additional security layer to a wallet, so that even or when a seed or wallet would be compromised, it would require still a passphrase yp access it.

Heck, you might not even know until it is too late, when your wallet would be emptied. The passphrase would prevent that and at least slow being compromised down (assuming you would know if someone acquired access to your seed or hardware wallet), especially when using a complex passphrase.

The only reason to delay implementing it, is the costs of the fees of sending funds from the normal wallet to the new hidden wallet. Nothing else…
