[https://i.redd.it/1jph4lzxezj01.jpg](https://i.redd.it/1jph4lzxezj01.jpg) is an excellent description of the size of numbers involved, from [https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/827pzw/odds_of_winning_powerball_lottery_vs_guessing_one/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/827pzw/odds_of_winning_powerball_lottery_vs_guessing_one/) .
Which is to say, accidentally guessing _any_ wallet is cosmically less likely then winning powerball, and again as unlikely to guessing _your_ wallet.
So, for 1: The number of wallets generated, or that could be generated in human timescales, is essentially compared to the total number possilbe.
For 2: A wallet generator doesn’t have to know if someone generated the wallet already. Random chance says it doesn’t need to bother. It _could_ check if there are any transactions with that wallet yet to avoid that miniscule change, but that does not require a centrally hackable database.
