Great question, this came up and was discussed recently if you want to go looking down a bit further too, but my personal opinion is that you shouldn’t trust (nor should you have to) your cold storage wallet manufacturer. Ellipal has created a trustless system where you don’t have to trust them. The only way the Ellipal Titan can communicate with anything is via QR codes…and this part IS open source (https://github.com/ELLIPAL)

You’d also have to trust their keygen process…but I’d _highly_ recommend creating your keys completely offline with coin flips using a tool like Ian Coleman’s. Then use the import feature of your Titan wallet so you can enter the mnemonic’s completely offline also. This way you don’t have to trust anyone

      Offline wallet creation:

Good tools here too, including a place to log coin flips during wallet creation:

This way you can sleep safely knowing your keys are as safe as possible

No you can’t. They don’t even support you with technical support. I can’t get anyone to help me or get my coins off this thing.

And it’s in Hong Kong, isn’t it? What if China takes control?

Me personally I’ve tried updating my brand new device out of the box and no matter what I try and do I follow the instructions to the latter it will not update I have tried 30 + times general build quality of the device I do like and i like the idea of it but I don’t like the cost of transferring coins it seems to be that the network fee seems to be extremely high compared to other wallets I think it would be a great device if it didn’t have quite as many bugs and if the customer service was better I waited over a month for mine to be delivered and the customer service was horrible it could be an extremely good device but the bugs and customer service really let it down and I understand closed firmware would add extra security in a way but then transparency is also a good thing too

Hoping someone know this. Can the Titan work with other apps other than the Ellipal app?

Thank you for your question. A decentralized cold wallet means that you don’t need to trust anyone, any manufacturer, the user only needs to trust themselves because the private key is in the hands of the user. Here is a blog on open source and security for your reference,https://www.ellipal.com/blogs/news/how-much-does-open-source-contribute-to-security?_pos=1&_sid=be2661178&_ss=r
