You can get multiple addresses… only becomes an issue if you need to send more than what you have in one address.

      > can find out how much Ethereum I hold if they find my address out?

Only on the address in question.

You can have multiple ETH accounts, each has a different address.

      Is this how derivations work?

In the case that anyone has knowledge of your ETH account, they’ll be able to see the balances or transaction history, however due to the nature of blockchain technology being pseudonymous – there is no verifiable way to connect a particular account to a particular user, **unless said user provides supplementary information**.

With this in mind, you’ll have the benefit of *plausible deniability*, and notably, you can always generate additional ETH accounts for future transactions to obfuscate your transaction history – in the case that you’re worried someone is monitoring one of your accounts.

While Ethereum itself does not offer inherent privacy, it’s important to highlight that privacy on Ethereum, as well as other blockchain platforms, is largely dependent on the user. Numerous projects are actively working towards developing privacy-preserving solutions specifically designed for Ethereum. Prominent examples include Railgun, Azteck, and various others. These initiatives demonstrate the ongoing efforts within the blockchain community to enhance privacy and confidentiality features on Ethereum, providing users with the tools and options to safeguard their transactions and sensitive information.

Ethereum wallet addresses are not private, and people can potentially trace your transaction history and learn how much you hold. To maintain privacy, I recommend using Railgun. It helps Ethereum transactions private and secure.
