      Hallo, Krypto Ultra-Novize hier.

      Ich habe gerade meine Ledger nano S plus früher eingerichtet und ich fragte mich, warum jemand jemals ihre Ledger zu metamask verbinden wollen würde? Insbesondere unter Verwendung der Option Hardware hinzufügen.

      Ist es nur so Leute können Sie Krypto einfacher senden und Sie wären in der Lage, es zurück in Ihr Ledger zurückzuziehen? Was sind hier die Vor- und Nachteile? Ist es überhaupt möglich, dass jemand Krypto auf Ihr Ledger-Live-Konto sendet?

      Metamask just becomes the UI. It becomes a replacement for ledger live.

      That being said if I would recommend Rabby ( https://rabby.io ) over metamask. Open source and security audited.

      >Is it just so people can send you crypto easier and you would be able to withdraw it back into your ledger

      Nothing leaves the ledger. The connect hardware wallet doesn’t move coins “off” the ledger device. It is using the metamask UI with your ledger device.

      It isn’t one or the other it is both

      * Ledger Live + Ledger Device
      * Metamask + Ledger Device
      * Rabby + Ledger Device
      * Electrum (bitcoin standalone wallet) + Ledger Device

      starting to see the picture?

      One final warning because somehow this confuses people:
      NEVER ENTER YOUR SEED PHRASE (“24 words”) INTO ANY APPLICATIONS EVER. NOT INTO MESTAMASK, NOT INTO “LEDGER LIVE” NOT INTO ANYTHING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

      The idea of using ledger device with metamask or rabby or any third party wallet is the keys remain solely inside the ledger device. If you enter your seedphrase into a wallet even an honest one you completely defeat the entire purpose of having a hardware wallet.

      Or as ledger says
      >Never share your 24-word recovery phrase with anyone, never enter it on any website or software, even if it looks like it’s from Ledger. Only keep the recovery phrase as a physical paper or metal backup, never create a digital copy in text or photo form.

      The reason is that the majority of dapps require a web3 wallet (Rabby, Metamask, Phantom, etc…) to use. There are a few dapps that you can access directly through Ledger Live, but for the most part you’ll need a web3 wallet if you’re trying to use DeFi dapps, mint NFTs or do anything else that involves smart-contracts.

      The main reason why I personally prefer using MetaMask rather than Ledger Live, is that MM calculates transaction fees much better and more accurately than metaMask.

      There are many other reasons I prefer MM. MM allows to get addresses of multiple accounts without having to fund the accounts (LL does no allow that). MM allows creating accounts using the so-called legacy derivation path (LL does not allow that). MM allows adding tokens contract addresses to view unsupported tokens (LL does dot allow that). etc…

      It will vary by person, but there are 2 common reasons Ledger users (including myself) connect their Ledger device to MetaMask, or other supported third-party wallets.

      * Ledger Live supports many coins and tokens, but not all. To secure and manage a token not yet supported in Ledger Live using a Ledger account, you’ll need to connect to a supported wallet like MetaMask through a hardware connection.
      * In some cases, it’s easier to connect Ledger secured accounts to dapps and platforms through third-party wallet connections.

      One important thing to keep in mind is that connecting to MetaMask via hardware connection is safe. Assets are stored on the blockchain, not on Ledger devices. MetaMask, like Ledger Live, is simply one of the many interfaces that allow you to view and manage your assets stored on the blockchain. Even though Ledger secured accounts are visible in MetaMask, the recovery phrase responsible for managing that account is kept safe by your Ledger device.
