Vielen Dank an alle. Ich bin mir sicher, dass diese Fragen schon ein paar Mal gestellt wurden, aber ich habe keine Ahnung von Technik, obwohl ich lerne 🙂

You have taken the correct first step. The next step is to become overkill educated on how cold wallets and crypto work. Watch a million videos. Learn the difference in cold wallets, hot wallets and exchanges. Learn that crypto is on the blockchain and forever will be and wallets are just windows to access it. Majority of lost crypto is user error. I think there is a “ledger academy” or something that might be a place to start. The ultimate possession of your crypto is the seed phrase. Not the ledger device. Yes many coins can be staked on ledger. Take your time. Move slowly. Practice sending and receiving small amounts even if it wastes some gas fees. Stake slowly at first. Make sure everything is working. Never do anything if there are any distractions around you.

Always remember, a cold wallet is a good defence but in the end it’s just another layer of security, still be careful what transactions you sign.

Welcome to the Ledger family :🚀

You’re correct! If you lose your Ledger device, you don’t lose your crypto as long as you have your 24-word recovery phrase. This phrase can be used to restore your accounts on a new Ledger device. It’s crucial to keep this phrase safe and secure.

Yes, you can stake on Ledger using the Ledger Live app. The process is designed to be user-friendly, even for someone relatively new. You can find more information on staking in the Ledger Live app here: [https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live](https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live)

Check out our Help Center articles for detailed instructions: [https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/categories/4404376139409?docs=true](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/categories/4404376139409?docs=true)

Regarding the transfer fees, they are not determined by Ledger but by the blockchain network itself and can vary depending on network congestion. The fees you mentioned are not uncommon for Ethereum and Bitcoin networks. It’s always a good idea to send a small amount first to ensure everything is working correctly. Remember, the fees apply to each transaction, so plan your transfers accordingly.

The crypto is not on the ledger as long as you have your seeds you can stake some protocols not all and of those you eill need a 3rd party app

So (1) As everyone said, study up on this intensively. Check out Crypto Dad on YouTube for instructional videos. (2) Those withdrawal fees are ridiculous. Eg. At the time of writing this, I just checked, Binance withdrawal fee for Btc is 0.00006 (about $1.77)

Hopefully you bought in cash from an authorized reseller … Ledger has been hacked multiple times by thieves retrieving customer addresses

Cancel the order and buy a ColdCard mk4. Trust me, you won’t regret it. It’s superior in every way.

Your cryptos are not stored in your ledger, they are on the blockchains. The only thing stored in your ledger is your 24 word seed phrase, i e the key to access your accounts on the blockchains.

As long as you have a safe backup of your 24 word seed phrase, you wont lose access to your cryptos, even if you lose your ledger.

Think of your wallet like an Xbox, the games like your crypto, and your keys like your account info.

My advice when entering the world of cold wallet:

      – initialize and write down on a paper (or any form you want to take as long-term backup of your seed) the seed

      – connect the ledger, generate an address (for example BTC, ETH, or LTC, any will do)
      – send some funds (5 bucks is enough)

      – completely format/factory reset the Ledger, and Ledger Live/Metamask saved data. It will simulate a potential crash, a new Ledger, anything

      – make sure that you get the correct seed ready to work, by restoring it manually on the Ledger (and never on the computer/mobile)

      – double check that once you access your Ledger Live or Metamask, you end up with the same address, with already the funds.

It takes 10 minutes, but trust me, it will give you peace of mind that the restoring process is working. Better check it once you have 5 bucks, rather when when you have 10K on it.
