      bin krypto nub btw

Do some research on Passphrase, your 25 word Seed will then become useless to everyone but you!

Nope they can’t. The secure element does not allow interactions with the seed without user input. You’re safe 🙂

Create a 25th passphrase with the ledger app and stake your coins you’ll be fine. They have to crack the 24 digit code plus enter the passphrase configuration and if they’re lucky enough to do that they have to hope they can take your coins without you noticing during the unbonding period

There is only one correct answer: WE DON’T KNOW. Is it possible? Yes. Could community catch Ledger if it happens? Nope. But any reason to do it for Ledger right now? Nope. But could Ledger do such things by government request for some cases? They obliged to do it if any. So we just don’t know.

Yes. Completely possible. Also extremely unlikely.

Theoretically it is possible. They CLAIM it’s not but since the code is closed source nobody can verify their claim.

Will you risk your entire life savings on their claim?

      Personally, I’m switching wallets.

No, Ledger cannot activate the Ledger Recover feature without your explicit consent. The process requires you to enter a PIN and agree to start the process on your device. Without your permission, the device will not fragment or send the encrypted fragments anywhere. Even if a bad actor got hold of an encrypted fragment of your secret Recovery phrase, they wouldn’t be able to do anything with it. Ledger Recover is designed with multiple layers of security to ensure your Secret Recovery Phrase is safe. Just don’t use the fake ledger site that asks for seed phrase.

I guess it’s possible but why would a company steal funds and break multiple laws and ruin their reputation? Your bank can do the same thing but are you worried about them as well?

Unless you build a trezor hardware clone yourself and compile and install the open source trezor firmware yourself, you also cannot be 100% certain that your trezor hardware and firmware are not malicious .

So you generally have to trust hardware wallets to not act maliciously, whether ledger, trezor or any other.

In my opinion, based on their hardware and software architecture, ledger are some of the safest hardware wallets. But you need to DYOR and decide by yourself.

Is it possible a bank can send all your money from one checking account to another’s without you approving it? Can they freeze your assets. Yes to both.

let’s see how fast this reply gets deleted..screenshot taken, just in case:

avoid Ledger & look for the Reddit discussions about how dishonest the Ledger co. owners have been. the r/Cryptocurrency subreddit was very busy with what on earlier this year and better chance to find info there.

because the Ledger admins deleted complaints @ the Ledger sub-forums & they also deleted complaints & proof of their LITERAL lies @ their TwitterX account.

their whole “Recovery” service fiasco is a nightmare, so look for posts about it, there’s a lot if you can stand the work of sitting through posts.

      but bottom line:

cold storage wallets aren’t supposed to be able to broadcast anything sensitive via the internet and Ledger said their wallets could not and would not ever do that..they lied.

another company lets their customers choose the number of shards AND who to give shards to. Ledger customers don’t have that choice:

3 shards only and Ledger holds one and some company *they* chose that they’re friendly with or maybe even have some control or influence over themselves – who knows? but that’s who holds the 3rd shard.

and only 2 shards are needed to remotely hand over access to their customers’ crypto to any government/law enforcement agency Ledger complies with, which they can also be compelled to do by law. which they also LIED about when asked by thousands of their customers and took many weeks to finally admit it was true.

so for those who sign up for their recovery service and who update their hardware wallets, their crypto can easily be confiscated by law enforcement agencies. and without even having access to the physical cold storage wallets.

eventually updates to both the Ledger hardware and software have to happen for even just basic functionality.

so, imho, no one should sign up for the recovery service subscription – and anyone who doesn’t already have a qualifying Ledger should buy from another company. because there’s no point in having a cold storage hardware wallet if others have access to it, it defeats the purpose! and is a waste of money.

because any updated qualifying Ledger wallet, esp. if a customer subscribed to the recovery service, no longer has a real cold storage Ledger wallet at all. it no longer fits the genuine definition of one.

so, why waste money buying from Ledger? investment in a cold storage is serious, should be respected and taken seriously by the seller, not only the buyer. better to purchase from a company that takes their business & promises seriously and that doesn’t repeatedly lie, which Ledger has a terrible record of doing, repeatedly.

btw, they were also careless with customer safety because of a security breach at Ledger that compromised customer safety, including that files containing customer home delivery addresses were breached:
      hashtag crypto ‘wrench attacks.’

they also promote that customers should “flex” by wearing their cold storage wallet necklace. I mean, so they WANT their customers and customers’ families harmed??

so, NO, the owners/managers of Ledger don’t give a cr@p about their customers’ safety or crypto security, it’s profit *alone* they care about.

also, to add insult to injury, Ledger has decided to backpedal on their VERY important former policy of crypto cold storage solution companies discouraging wallet purchases from 3rd parties – which is always risking a wallet being compromised BEFORE a customer receives it.

this happened *after* they partnered with Best Buy. when no worthy cold storage wallet company committed to customers’ safety & crypto security would ever do that.

those are just *some* of the many reasons I’ll never purchase another Ledger wallet and will NEVER recommend others do so either.

No, you have to physically approve the sharing of shards via button presses on the device.
