For non btc cryptos u should be able to use metamask or Phantom as a front end for your ledger.

What coins are you trying to send out? Try electrum for btc or metamask for eth.

I bet you u/loupiote2 will be able to help you out. They have experience with old Ledger devices and have helped out a lot of people in the past with similar issues.

(Don’t believe me, look at their post/comment history.)

Funds secured by old ledger (or ledgers with old firmware) are always recoverable, but the techniques to use may be complex, depending on the firmware version and the type of cryptos to recover.

You can see recovery reports from previous recoveries that we did in cases like yours:

Updating the firmware is not recommended if you lost your recovery / seed phrase, because if the upgrade goes bad, the device can reset and you would permanently lose access to all your cryptos.

So if you have large funds secured by the ledger, it would be very risky to attempt a firmware update.

[EDIT] I see you were able to recover your BTC, so all good!

sorry just noticed that my comment applies to bitcoin only… you shouldn’t do anything else but bitcoin all other crypto are scams… anyway in principle try to. find a wallet that recognises your addresses and sign from it

I also used to hate Ledger for that.
Do not reset your ledger. Connect your Ledger to a 3rd party wallet and send out your funds
