      Hallo Leute

Was ist falsch?

Each seed can produce unlimited addresses, using a [derivation path](https://learnmeabitcoin.com/technical/derivation-paths).

because it can create so many addresses so easily, it creates a new address each time, so essentially every address is only used once. it helps with privacy, anytime you provide a deposit address to someone, that address will always be empty if you following this setup. and everything is public so you don’t really want to give them an address with your stuff already in it, else they’ll paw through it looking at all the stuff you own.

It’s for privacy, every address is connected to your wallet. So you can still use the old address, but for privacy apparently it’s better to use a new address every time.

Imagine you are generating a new post box once the current one gets a mail. But all of those boxes are controlled by you so, if you deposit another fund to one of the old boxes, you can also withdraw it back to wherever you want. They are all tied to your seed / 24-25 words. No seed = say goodbye to it.

      Hey,

What you are experiencing is completely normal. BTC accounts and similar to them (LTC, DOGE, DASH, etc) are using the change address system.

Your BTC account has its extended public key (xpub) and from that xpub the receiving addresses are derived. Each time you receive BTC on one address, for the next time the new changing address will be derived.

It is designed this way for privacy so no one can check on blockchain how many BTC you hold on your account.

Imagine it like a tree with many roots. The chunk of the tree would be your entire BTC account balance (xpub) and from it, there would be deriving several addresses as roots but them altogether the part of the whole account and the funds on each of these addresses together form the total balance of your BTC account (check the image [here](https://prnt.sc/N_GT7iG7bAIL)).

We explain it in more detail in this [article](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033802154-Change-addresses-for-UTXO-based-crypto-assets?support=true).
