Hallo an alle,

Gestern wurde ich betrogen und verlor den ersten ETH-Betrag, den ich in mein Metamask-Wallet geschickt habe.

Es war ziemlich schlimm, aber das Gute daran ist, dass ich schon früh erkannt habe, dass ich vielleicht eine harte Wallet brauche. Und ich denke darüber nach, mir eine von Trezor zu besorgen.

ABER, die Sache ist die…

Ich lebe in einem Land, in dem die Trezor-Website nicht liefert. Ich kann viele Angebote für eine neue Trezor-Wallet online auf e-Commerces hier finden, aber ich bin besorgt über diese Möglichkeit:

——— Der Verkäufer öffnet die Wallet, kopiert die darauf registrierte Seed-Phrase, verpackt sie neu und schickt sie mir. Ein paar Wochen später benutzt er/sie die Seed-Phrase, um auf mein Konto zuzugreifen und alles zu stehlen ——–

Ist dies wirklich möglich? Wenn ja, gibt es eine Möglichkeit zu sehen, ob das Gerät vorher eingeschaltet war?

Trezors ship with no firmware loaded on them. If it arrives with firmware it has been tampered with. Also any hardware wallet that comes with a predefined list of seed words is a scam. It should create the seed word list when you configure it and in Trezor’s case once the seed word list has been created it will not display it again.

A cold wallet will not stop you from loosing your funds. A trezor should never come set up. You should always have to install firmware. They should never have a seed that comes with it either.

If someone gets your seed they can steal everything. If you sign a bad contract (sounds like you prob did this, unless you know forsure your seed was exposed) they can still steal all funds on that chain. There are bad versions of things. You can get a bad version of an update or you can download a bad version of MetaMask

Everyone thinks a hard wallet makes it impossible to steal your money… this couldn’t be further from the truth. You need to learn about wallets and figure out what your doing. No matter what wallet you have hot or cold wallet your funds can still always be stolen

You can always just wipe the device and input your own seedphrase. The more scary part is if the device itself has been tampered with, in this case there is no way to know until it’s too late. I suggest checking if there are official vendors of Trezor in your region and buying from them
