Danke 🙏.

Not buy from a rando 3rd party. What is what you should have done better. Write your seed phrase on paper and put it in a place that you will find it later. Seed phrases should only be used to recover, do not give anyone your seed phrase.

I’m that extra bit paranoid when it comes to my seed phrase and divide it in half and hide in 2 different locations. Half is useless if anyone ever finds it

After resetting the ledger, remove the account fron ledger live. This way you will create a new account rather than showing you the old account. This way you will know for sure that you restored with the proper seed ie the one that was used to create the account.

Yup! The only other thing I might do is get together your own bitcoin node. [https://kyc3.life/dojo-x86-bitcoin-node-guide-1-core-tor/](https://kyc3.life/dojo-x86-bitcoin-node-guide-1-core-tor/) is a great tutorial. Once that is spun up, you can tell live (or, even better, Sparrow Wallet) to get its btc information (suggested transaction fees, tranaction confirms, etc.) from there, thus increasing your privacy. Mind you, that’s only for BTC, not any other coin you may want to associate with this seed phrase. For the other coins, you’ll most likely have to rely upon Ledger’s servers.

Hey – Your plan is generally correct, but I would like to clarify a few points to ensure you’re following the best practices:
      1. Connect your new Ledger Nano X to the Ledger Live app on your Mac. Make sure to download or update Ledger Live via this link: https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live
      2. Set up your device as a new device, which will generate a new Recovery phrase. Write down your new Recovery phrase on your Recovery sheet.
      3. Update your device firmware. It’s highly recommended to update your device to the latest firmware version to benefit from the optimal security level and user experience offered by our products.
      4. Make note of your wallet address offline.
      5. Send a small amount of BTC to your Ledger. Always send a small amount first, then verify that the transaction was properly received by the recipient address before proceeding to send larger amounts.
      6. Do a recovery check of your 24-word seed phrase. (https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007223753-Recovery-Check)
      7. Delete your BTC account from Ledger Live.
      8. Reset and restore your Ledger device with your 24 words seed phrase (https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404382560913-Restore-your-Ledger-accounts-with-your-recovery-phrase)
      9. Add back your BTC account in Ledger Live.

If all checks out correctly then your Ledger has been set up successfully. Then you can store your 24-word seed phrase securely. Remember, your Recovery phrase is the only backup of your crypto assets. If you lose access to your device, you’ll need this phrase to recover your assets. Always keep it safe and never share it with anyone.
