Ich weiß, dass ich immer noch auf mein Ledger zugreifen kann, aber gibt es eine Möglichkeit, nur mit meiner PIN auf meine Wiederherstellungsphrase zuzugreifen? Ich muss meine Firmware aktualisieren, aber es heißt, dass Sie Ihre Passphrase als Vorsichtsmaßnahme haben sollten, die ich verloren habe, weil mein Gehirn ein Drecksloch ist. Ich wäre für jede Hilfe sehr dankbar.

Hey – Unfortunately, accessing your recovery phrase solely with your PIN is not possible. The recovery phrase is a crucial security measure, and it’s designed to be accessible only physically, ensuring that even if someone gains access to your device, they can’t retrieve your recovery phrase without physical possession of it.
If you’ve lost your 24-word recovery phrase but still have access to your Ledger device via your PIN, it’s crucial to transfer your crypto assets to a secure location before attempting any updates. However, if you’re unable to transfer your assets due to needing a firmware update, you might face a complex situation. You can try using third arty wallets with your Ledger to see if that helps.
For BTC, you can try using [Electrum wallet](https://support.ledger.com/hc/articles/115005161925-Set-up-and-use-Electrum) to see if you can find your funds and perform the necessary transactions. Since your firmware is outdated, you can try using your Ledger device in conjunction with [an older version of Electrum](https://download.electrum.org/).
For ETH and ERC-20 tokens, [MyCrypto](https://support.ledger.com/hc/articles/360008268594-Set-up-and-use-MyCrypto?docs=true) desktop application is an option as they might support Ledger devices with older firmware.
For other crypto-assets, I would recommend trying compatible third-party wallets, the list for which you can find [here](https://www.ledger.com/supported-crypto-assets).

>is there a way to access my recovery phrase using just my PIN?
Nope.
>which I lost because my brain is a shithole
You should never rely on your memory to remember your seed phrase. You should write it on paper or metal, and save it, preferably in two separate physical locations to prevent accidental loss or destruction.
>I need to update my firmware but it says that you should have your passphrase
You should not attempt to update your ledger firmware if you lost your seed phrase, because if the update goes bad and the ledger resets or bricks, you would lose permanently access to all your cryptos.
If your ledger funds are small (e.g. less than $1000 value), you could take the risk to attempt an update…
Recovery of all cryptos is always possible from ledger with old firmware, but depending on the firmware version and of the type of cryptos, it can require some efforts.
For example, you can read some of our recovery reports here:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/1af8ei9/nano_s_with_firmware_12_539_eth_recovered/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/1af8ei9/nano_s_with_firmware_12_539_eth_recovered/)
(links to more reports at the end of the post above)
Recovery is sometimes possible using third-party front-ends that are still compatible with older ledger firmware (e.g. Electrum, for BTC). In some cases, older versions of third-party front-ends may work. In some cases, custom tools must be used.
