if you have ledger on your desktop and you want to view your portfolio on your phone, you can scan the QR code, and you can passively view your holdings. This works specially if you have the nano s (no bluetooth).

It’s so you can have your account show on a different instance of Ledger Live. It’s not your private keys if that’s what you are worried about. For Bitcoin and similar (as an example), it’s the xpub which allows you to see transactions coming and going from the wallet, but it doesn’t let you send anything because you need the Ledger to sign the transaction regardless of how many devices you choose to show the account on.

Hey, Exporting accounts in Ledger Live allows you to sync between Ledger Live desktop and mobile. Alternatively, you can also manually connect device to Ledger Live desktop and Mobile to manually add your accounts!

It exports your public master key so you can keep track all addresses of that token type that tied to your seed. You know, you get new BTC addresses once you send funds to the previous one for security. It’s not exporting your private key. (And probably someone will reply, how are you sure?) lol.
