      Yes, when you connect to ledger live, you give ledger’s node your xpub. Now they know stuff about you and could be storing this info. This is why you should run your own node. Also ledger live is logging IP addresses every time you open ledger live. Make of it what you will.

      Use sparrow wallet instead of ledger live, even with a Ledger device.

      They use their own nodes. I don’t know if they store ip addresses, though.

      You can use Sparrow Wallet and point it to whatever node you want. I think it is difficult to do with Ledger Live.

      There are layers.

      1. The Device – Ledger Hardware, Firmware, and Bootloader
      2. Interface Software – Ledger Live, or Electrum, or Sparrow, or whatever
      3. The Node – Bitcoin Core, or any of a dozen node implementations

      Each layer can connect to many different choices.

      * Nano X -> Ledger Live -> Default Ledger ^(tm) backend.
      * Nano X -> Electrum -> Electrum Public Server
      * Nano X -> Electrum -> Electrum Personal Server -> Bitcoin Core
      * Nano X -> Sparrow -> Bitcoin Core

      So yes, I think the Default Ledger ^(tm) Backend are all owned by Ledger, but that is simply a configuration choice on the user’s part.

      What transactions? You mean when you use a 3rd party to buy or sell? All crypto transactions are done on their respective chains….

      so you don’t have to use ledger live with any of your accounts, you can just use it too manage the software on your device. if you are so very concerned about your privacy, then ledger has given you all the tools you need to do it your own way.

      > To collect this tax, the tax authorities could then simply force hardware wallet manufacturers as Ledger to forward their data on IP addresses and associated crypto assets to the tax authorities.

      No.

      Because You do not need to use ledger live in order to perform transactions with your ledger device.

      Personally i never use ledger live except to install apps or updatey ledger firmware.
