Ich verstehe nicht, wie Hardware-Wallets funktionieren. Was passiert also in der Zukunft, sagen wir in 20 Jahren, wenn Sie auf Ihre Kryptowährungen von einem Ledger aus zugreifen wollen, aber der Ledger hat sein Geschäft aufgegeben.

Ich denke, wie wenn Sie VHS-Kassetten in den 80er Jahren gekauft, aber jetzt wollen Sie sie sehen, es ist ein Problem.

Der Grund, warum ich das frage, ist, dass ich einen Haufen verschiedener Kryptowährungen auf einem Ledger speichern und dann in einen Tresor legen und ihn 20 oder 30 Jahre lang aufbewahren möchte. Ist es möglich, dass ich dann nicht mehr auf die Münzen zugreifen kann?

First of all, your crypto is neither on the Ada platform nor on your Ledger. Crypto is always stored on the blockchain.
Your Ledger only holds your private keys and your seed phrase. Your private keys are derived from your seed phrase and allow you to prove that your crypto belongs to you. You can learn more about it [here.](https://www.ledger.com/academy/not-your-keys-not-your-coins-why-it-matters)

The purpose of using hardware wallets is to generate the seed phrase and private offline and to keep them offline. By generating and keeping them offline you avoid attackers stealing your seed phrase.

You can enter the seed phrase in any wallet using the same BIP standard (you need to use a wallet that derives the addresses from your seed phrase in the same way). They will probably be some different hardware or compatible hot wallet allowing you to enter your recovery seed to move your crypto to the new ledger.

Your crypto are on the Blockchain and your seed words are the key so ledger existing or not does not matter much 🙂
